The SSSTS course is widely recognized as the standard training for all construction supervisors, providing essential knowledge to manage health, safety, and welfare on-site effectively.
A natural progression from the SSSTS course is the Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS), which further enhances skills for those advancing into senior site management roles.
This is a two-day course requiring learners to complete the full 15 hours to qualify for confirmation.
Course Structure
• Evaluation: Assessment will include:
• A formal exam paper
• Completion of course assessments and an assessor review
• The exam ensures that the certificate is only awarded to successful candidates who meet the assessment and evaluation criteria.
Course Requirements
• Learners are expected to be interactive throughout the course.
• A toolbox talk must be completed as part of the course requirements.
Final Assessment
• On Day 2, at the end of the theory session:
• Learners will take a 25-question multiple-choice test and a 3-question written test.
• There are 4 critical safety questions that must be answered correctly.
• For the final 10 minutes of the exam, learners may refer to their course books.
Certification
Upon successful completion, learners will receive a CITB Construction Skills Certificate of Training, which is valid for 5 years.
Learners must attend both course days in order and, if not on consecutive days, must complete the course within 14 days.
• If a learner is unable to attend both days due to uncontrollable circumstances (e.g., certified illness), they will need to re-enroll onto another course to maintain continuity of learning and complete both days again.
• Learners who fail to complete the full course or do not pass the final assessment will not be issued a certificate.
