NVQ Level 4 - Crane/Lift Supervisor

This qualification opens the door to further career advancement, allowing learners to progress from Supervising Lifts at Level 4 to the Level 5 NVQ Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations – Planning Lifts, preparing you for more senior roles in lifting operation management.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, making it accessible to individuals from all backgrounds. You don’t need any previous training or qualifications in this subject area. However, learners must have the potential and opportunity to successfully complete the qualification.

Qualification Structure

To achieve the Level 4 NVQ in Crane Supervision, learners must complete the following mandatory core units:

• Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships in the Workplace

• Supervising Lifting Operations Using Lifting Equipment in the Workplace

• Maintaining Systems for Health, Safety, Welfare, and Environmental Protection in the Workplace

• Coordinating and Organising the Control of Work in the Workplace

• Allocating and Monitoring the Use of Plant, Equipment, or Machinery in the Workplace

• Maintaining the Dimensional Accuracy of the Work in the Workplace

• Coordinating Preparation Work for Site or Lifting Operations in the Workplace

• Allocating Work and Checking People’s Performance in the Workplace


Assessment Process

Once enrolled, you will be assigned a qualified assessor to support you throughout the process:

• Induction Visit: The assessor will arrange an induction session to explain the evidence requirements and outline the qualification process.

• On-Site Observation: Your assessor will observe your practical work on-site to assess your competence in real-world scenarios.

• Assessment Methods: These may include:

• Professional Discussions

• Written Knowledge Questions

• Witness Testimonials
